You start at Standard by default, though you can immediately advance, end up anywhere, jump, or revert. And again, it may take a short time to advance, or a long time. Some players are happy with where they are and choose not to advance.
Any natural level can be paired with any personal level, they certainly don't have to go in list order. Firepower plus Hardcore = players who soak until the enemy literally drops. Likewise, Fluid plus Standard = players who make use of just basic tactics, but are adept at moving around, dodging, and other fast-action fighting. Teams can carry Progression levels, however, a level is not very accurate unless every single member of the team is at said level.

| Firepower Level | The most common level in soaking. The majority of all known water warriors fight at this level. In the Firepower level, strong guns are key for victory. A great match for those who love soaking power and big cannons, as well as some tactics and teamwork. |

| Progressive Level | This level introduces far greater opportunities than in the Firepower level. More than the basic tactics appear at this level. The Progressive level is really here to prepare one for the Fluid level. Only advance here if you want to achieve the Fluid level, as most of your Firepower tactics and strategies will start to work differently. |

| Fluid Level | The Fluid level is one of mobility, versatility, cunning deception, etc. Ideas rule the battlefield, superior to any physical tactic. |
